TOP 5 SEQUELS TO BE RELEASED THIS YEAR

2011 is the year of Hollywood sequels, a record breaking 27 film sequels are to be released this year. The prominent sequels released in the first half of the year include Cars 2, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Kungfu Panda 2, etc..
Well todays top 5 is the most anticipated sequels yet to be released this year. So read along and start setting reminders in your cell phone, because you wouldn’t want to miss any of them.

5. FINAL DESTINATION 5
Obviously, this is the 5th instalment to the final destination series and what a coincidence this is the 5th film on my list too. Written by Eric Heisserer and directed by Steven Quale, this supernatural thriller film is set for release at 12 August 2011. Almost all the casts in the film are new, with the exception of William Bludworth (Tony Todd) who returns after the first two films in the series.

Well there is no need to second guess the story line of a final destination film which is “Survivors of some kind of disasters getting killed in unimaginable ways”, which is starting to be a little boring after 4 films. The disaster this time is the collapse of a suspension bridge and for the unimaginable killings you will have to wait for the film.

OTHER FILMS IN THE SERIES
The Final Destination (2009)
Final Destination 3 (2006)
Final Destination 2 (2003)
Final Destination (2000)

4. PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 3
The next film in our list is also a thriller; this is the third addition to the Paranormal Activity series in which all the films were made in a ‘found footage’ style. The film, which is set to be released on 21 October 2011 is written by Michael R. Perry and Oren Peli (Director of Paranormal Activity 1) and directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman.
Although few details are known about the film, it is safe to assume that there is going to be some kind of demonic possession involved. With Oren Peli back on the team, expectations are high for Paranormal Activity 3.

OTHER FILMS IN THE SERIES
Paranormal Activity 2 (2010)
Paranormal Activity (2007)

3. MISSION IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL
Tom Cruise is back as Ethan Hunt in the fourth instalment of the MI series. Ghost Protocol is the first film in the series not to be produced by Paula Wagner, instead it is produced by JJ Abrams (Director of MI3), Tom Cruise himself and Bryan Burke. The film, directed by Brad Bird has been written by Christopher McQuarrie, André Nemec and Josh Appelbaum. The film will be released on 16 December 2011
Ethan and his team are blamed for a bomb blast at Kremlin which shut downs the IMF (Impossible Mission Force), now they must work from outside the agency to clear its name and find the ones responsible for the attack or they will be branded as terrorists.

OTHER FILMS IN THE SERIES
Mission Impossible 3 (2006)
Mission Impossible 2 (2000)
Mission Impossible (1996)

2. SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS
Also known as Sherlock Holmes 2, this is an action comedy film produced by Joel Silver, Lionel Wigram, Susan Downey and directed by Guy Ritchie. The film will be released along with MI 4 on December 16, 2011.

The film portrays world famous fictional detective Sherlock Holmes created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in his novels. Robert Downey Jr.’s (aka The Iron Man) version of Holmes is not exactly what Conan Doyle had in mind when he created the character; but it had a tremendous welcome among the viewers.

In the film, Sherlock Holmes along with sidekick Dr. Watson are on the trail of their most cunning and fiercest adversary, Professor Moriarty

OTHER FILMS IN THE SERIES
Sherlock Holmes (2009)

1. HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS: PART TWO
Well, I can undoubtedly say that this is the most anticipated sequel to be released this year. The Harry Potter series have collected 6.3 billion US dollars with the 7 films in the box office.

TOP 5 HOLLYWOOD FILMS RELEASED IN THE YEAR 2010

Hmm.. So today I have come up with the list of best Hollywood films released in the year 2010. Don’t worry, I have only given short descriptions about the films and you wouldn’t be spoiled of the fun watching them. So go ahead and read the 5 and don’t forget to watch them.
5. HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON
Screen writer Will Davies makes his Cressida Crowell book into a film with Directors Dean DeBlois & Chris Sanders. The film is set on a desolate Viking Island where dragon fighting separates the men from the boys. The Viking chieftain, Stoick the Vast’s son Hiccup has reached the age where he must prove his might by slaying a dragon, but Hiccup being the most accident prone person on the island, this is not going to be an easy task for him.

MAIN CAST:
Jay Baruchel - Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III (voice)
Gerarld Butler - Stoick the Vast (voice)
Craig Ferguson - Gobber the Belch (voice)
RUNTIME: 98 min
4. THE KINGS SPEECH
This Bedlam Productions’ true story based film follows the story of the Duke of York’s (King George VI) quest to find his voice. Don’t get me wrong there, he’s not a mute; but stammers a lot and that makes him difficult to make speeches which are essential to his royal duties. He, accompanied by his wife Elizabeth, visits many doctors but nothing works out. Finally on Elizabeth’s suggestion he visits Lionel Logue, a speech therapist. But the two gets off on the wrong foot as the Duke doesn’t like Lionel asking him personal questions.
MAIN CAST:
Colin Firth - King George VI
Helena Bonham Carter - Queen Elizabeth
Derek Jacobi - Archbishop Cosmo Lang
RUNTIME: 118 min
3. BLACK SWAN
Fox Searchlight Pictures, Protozoa Pictures and Phoenix pictures’ Black Swan follows Nina Sayers who is a ballerina in a New York City ballet company. She aspires to be the lead dancer of her company and her life pretty much revolves around her ballet company. Living with her mother Erica, who is a former ballerina she is thrown into the world of ballet from a very young age itself. Thomas Leory, Nina’s Dance director plans to start a new ballet, Swan lake and obviously Nina wants the lead role.
MAIN CAST:
Natalie Portman - Nina Sayers
Mila Kunis - Lily
Vincent Cassel - Thomas Leroy
RUN TIME: 108 min
2. TOY STORY 3
Pixar is back to the Toy Story series after Ratatouille, WALL-E and Up. Toy Story 3 is packed with loads of fun and plenty of jokes pretty much like the first two instalments of the series. The old characters Woody, Buzz, and the gang team up for yet another adventure. Rest assured that this is going to be one hell of a movie with more twists and turns that you can hardly breathe. There is no doubt that this is the best animated film of 2010.
MAIN CAST:
Tom Hanks - Woody (voice)
Tim Allen - Buzz Lightyear (voice)
Joan Cusack - Jessie (voice)
RUN TIME: 103 min
1. INCEPTION
There would have been few doubts in your minds on which film would top my list of best Hollywood films of 2010. Inception comes from a person who only knows to create block busters – Yup; I’m talking about Christopher Nolan. If I had written a post about best films of 2008, Nolan would have won again with his Dark Knight – a film which broke collection records that year. So coming to Inception, Nolan has crafted a movie that’s beyond brilliant creating his own collection of rules in the best Sci-Fi Action film of the Decade.
MAIN CAST:
Leonardo DiCaprio - Cobb
Joseph Gordon-Levitt - Arthur
Ellen Page - Ariadne
RUN TIME: 148 min

STAY TUNED FOR THE NEXT 5
